Editor, the name of a profession, has always been reminiscent of the person who connects every link between the media and readers. However, "editing" as a verb (editing), with the work of selecting, arranging, and exchanging information, has become a method and ability to think and act in the contemporary information living space. In other words, in what researchers call the "media century", we should re-understand what contemporary "editorial power" is: from traditional gatekeepers to active content creators.
This course will cover the theorization of editing to cases and brief histories of different media, such as newspaper supplements, literary magazines, and literary publishing, and then lead students to understand contemporary editing methods and personally participate in practice. Develop an editorial mindset to view the creation of literary fields and phenomena.
Understand the trends in contemporary editing, the characteristics of various media from paper to the cloud, and the new role of editors in the cross-media society. It lays the foundation for diverse abilities to enter practical work and even theoretical research on editing.
