This course aims to improve students’ communication skills through the practice of video blogging or vlogging. Although it is conceived as a continuation of the subject of first semester “Vlogging. Enhance your communication skills”, students who have not taken this subject on the first semester are also welcome.
In this course, the students will learn a number of strategies for improving their communication skills, and for making blog videos in a semi-professional way, taking care of the multiple aspects that concern vlogging: scripting, video-making, editing, attracting an audience, creating a community, etc.
Every week, some theoretical issues will be addressed, followed by a critical review of existing videos. Students will decide on a subject of their interest and will be able to produce short videos to put in practice the contents studied in class. The course assessments will be partially theoretical and partially practical: on the one hand, students will make a short mid-term and final test, and in the other hand they will produce a video for the mid-term assessment and another one for the final assessment. The students will also make at least two short videos (around 1 minute) where they practice their skills and the particular aspects studied in class.
The subjects developed in class will include the following ones:
Overcome shyness
The Voice: clarity, rhythm, emotions, atmosphere, pauses, etc.
Scripting: planning the content of your video
Visual and Sound aspects of your video: tips to produce semi professional videos with basic materials
Edition software: light, color, sound, music, effects, cutting, etc.
Strategies for attracting the audience and creating a community.
Equipment: hardware (mobile phone, camera, microphone, tripod, lighting, etc.) and software (Vegas pro, Premiere pro)
