本課程與《語言溝通概論》《社會文化概論》並列，為本系必修基礎課程之一。這門課程主要目的在為學生建構文化研究相關基礎知識及基本概念，以培養學生對文化研究的理解，並提供學生一個機會去發現自己的興趣，進而具備選擇專門領域的判斷能力。
This course, along with "Introduction to Language Communication" and "Introduction to Social Culture", is one of the required basic courses in this department.
