The international migration of the Chinese in modern times is undoubtedly an important part of global population migration. It has been more than 170 years since the Chinese immigrated to the United States due to the attraction of the gold rush in the late 1840s. They are an important group that forms the multicultural society of the United States today and have made indispensable contributions to the modernization and development of contemporary national strength in the United States; however, The main body of American society is always wavering between tolerance and acceptance and suspicion and fear regarding the immigration of Chinese people. This course will explore the development process and changes of Chinese society in the United States from exile to settlement, analyze the interaction patterns between Chinese and local society in different time and space, and guide students to see the big from the small, and to have a deeper understanding and thinking about the history of human migration.
