本課程之目的為幫助在校學生瞭解大肚山的自然生態環境及特色，以及校方在環境永續及維護生物多樣性之對策及措施。本課程會以全英文的方式，讓東海大學在校生(包含境外生)，用國際通用語言，以環境永續觀點切入，培養社會責任、結合課堂授課及現地實作，了解大肚山的自然生態系；以及東海大學師生為修復人與土地及環境之關係所做的努力。內容分為二個主題，第一主題是讓學生了解東海大學之美；建校超過六十年的位於大肚山東海大學，綠意盎然的校園，教室淹沒在樹海之中，學生將實地體驗東海大學的自然環境，實際感受居住在當中之生物多樣性。第二主題是以各種與生活息息相關或實際應用在生活的操作活動，讓學生體驗生態環境對個人、社區及城市的影響，將讓學生了解如何透過各種方式來達到環境友善及環境永續，讓學生深刻了解東海大學如何成為台中市的城市綠洲。
The purpose of this course is to help school students understand the natural ecological environment and characteristics of Dadu Mountain, as well as the school’s strategies and measures for environmental sustainability and maintaining biodiversity. This course will be conducted entirely in English, allowing Tunghai University students (including overseas students) to use a common international language, cultivate social responsibility from the perspective of environmental sustainability, and combine classroom teaching and field practice to understand the nature of Dadu Mountain. Department of Ecology; and the efforts of Tunghai University teachers and students to restore the relationship between people, land and the environment. The content is divided into two themes. The first theme is to let students understand the beauty of Tunghai University; Tunghai University, located in Dadu Shandong Province, has been established for more than 60 years. It has a green campus with classrooms submerged in a sea of trees. Students will experience Tunghai University on the spot. The natural environment of the university allows you to actually experience the biodiversity living in it. The second theme is to use various operational activities that are closely related to life or have practical applications in life, allowing students to experience the impact of the ecological environment on individuals, communities and cities. It will allow students to understand how to achieve environmental friendliness and environmental sustainability through various methods, so that students can Students gain a deep understanding of how Tunghai University has become an urban oasis in Taichung City.
