當代新儒家牟宗三先生著作等身，著述範圍含括儒家、道家與佛家哲學，涉及道德哲學與政治哲學的課題。本課程旨在選讀牟宗三的一些重要著作，討論其中的觀點、論題與其中的可發展性。諸如宋明理學中的分系問題，與之相關的自律與他律爭議，當代討論的道德動力問題；政治哲學中的正當性問題，具體而言的「良知自我坎陷開出民主論」；圓教的問題；中西哲學會通的課題；都在本課程閱讀與討論的範圍。Mr. Mou Zongsan, a contemporary New Confucian, is the author of numerous works, covering Confucian, Taoist and Buddhist philosophy, and involving topics in moral philosophy and political philosophy. This course aims to read some of Mou Zongsan's important works and discuss the viewpoints, topics and possible developments in them. Such as the issue of division in Neo-Confucianism in the Song and Ming dynasties, the related disputes between autonomy and heteronomy, and the issue of moral motivation in contemporary discussions; the issue of legitimacy in political philosophy, specifically "the self-entrapment of conscience leads to the theory of democracy"; Issues about Perfect Teaching and issues related to the integration of Chinese and Western philosophy are all within the scope of reading and discussion in this course.
